Use this decision guide to choose the Onyx Enneagram coffee subscription as a personality-based gift or a flexible 2 lb coffee plan, and learn when it is the wrong fit.
Quick answer
Choose the Onyx Enneagram subscription when you want a personality-led coffee gift or a flexible 2 lb recurring coffee plan that you can cancel or modify at any time. Skip it if you need a small, one-time sampler or a fixed roast schedule you cannot change.
What the Enneagram format changes about a coffee subscription
Most coffee subscriptions ask you to pick a roast level or brew method. The Onyx Enneagram subscription starts from a personality framing instead, which makes it easier to give as a gift but less precise if you already know exactly which coffees you want. The catalog facts describe the plan as a 2 lb recurring coffee option with a 10 oz recurring option, and you can cancel or modify the subscription at any time. That flexibility matters more than the personality label if your coffee drinking changes month to month.
The trade-off: personality appeal vs. coffee specificity
A personality coffee box is a strong conversation piece and a low-pressure gift because the recipient does not need to know their preferred origin or roast. The trade-off is that the personality angle does not tell you which specific coffees will arrive, and the supplied catalog does not list roast levels, origins, or flavor notes for this plan. If you or the recipient care most about a particular brewing method or roast profile, treat the Enneagram subscription as a flexible recurring coffee plan first and a personality gift second.
When the 2 lb and 10 oz sizes make sense
The 2 lb recurring option suits a household that brews daily and wants fewer deliveries. The 10 oz recurring option suits a single drinker or someone who wants to try the format before committing to a larger bag. Because the catalog does not supply a roast schedule or delivery frequency beyond the recurring format, use the cancel-or-modify rule as your safety net: start with the size that matches your actual weekly consumption, then adjust after the first delivery.
Decision rules for the Onyx Enneagram subscription
- Gift vs. self-purchase: Choose it as a coffee gift by personality when the recipient enjoys novelty and you do not know their roast preference. For a self-purchase, choose it only if you are comfortable receiving coffees selected by the personality format rather than by origin or roast. If the recipient has a strict roast preference, pick a subscription that lets you specify it instead.
- Bag size: Pick the 2 lb recurring option for daily brewing by two or more people. Pick the 10 oz recurring option for one drinker or a first trial. The catalog does not list a delivery frequency, so size the plan to your weekly use rather than to an assumed schedule. Start smaller if you are unsure; you can modify the subscription later.
- Commitment check: Use the cancel-or-modify rule as your exit plan. If you need a fixed, unchangeable schedule or a one-time box, this is not the right format. Confirm the recipient is comfortable managing a recurring plan before gifting it.
Product facts to weigh
- Enneagram: Recurring plan offered in 2 lb and 10 oz options, with cancel or modify at any time. You can match the bag size to your household and change or stop the plan if the personality format does not suit the recipient.
