The roasted hazelnut-like body came through even without caffeine, which surprised me for a decaf. The sample size was perfect for dialing in my grinder before committing to a full bag.
Took a chance on a sample pack since I wasn't sure about decaf espresso, and this Peru Norandino pulled a surprisingly rich crema with a smooth, chocolatey finish. The sample portion was just enough for two proper shots, and I'm impressed it holds its own against the caffeinated stuff.
The flavor is remarkably smooth for a decaf, with none of that watery or burnt aftertaste I usually get. It brewed up nicely in my moka pot and gave me that afternoon coffee ritual without the jitters, which is exactly what I was hoping for.
